I am Judie!

What is it called when you don't believe someone or you think that they are just making up things and then all of a sudden the same things happen to you?  Well, I wouldn't necessarily say, "All of a sudden." It's been years in the making. I think it's like the evil eye. You wear a pretty bead from Turkey that keeps people from being jealous of you. I think it's something like that. You try to stave off something bad happening. But, it catches up.  It always catches up. Like all the girls who post selfies, "This is what 40 Looks Like," You want to reply, "Take care if your teeth! They look great now, but you'll be financing $10,000 major dental work by age 42!" Or the ones with the perfect hair and no wrinkles. You want to tell them about things that *seem* to work to keep them looking so good, but you wake up one day with hairbrushes of hair gone and black circles under your eyes. Never mind, why be so cynical. Years ago I had a sma...

shows like a dollhouse

The obit 19 hours ago ..... the real estate agent who sold me my home passed away at 82 years old. It was said to be a peaceful death and her husband of 30 years died 11 days later.  In all the years she lived here in town,  I never knew she was married and I never knew she had twins from her previous marriage. One of them died at some point. It did not say when, but losing a child doesn't need a lot of details. We can imagine. People say, "I can't imagine," but they can and don't want to say anything else. I never knew her dad died in a work accident when she was a teen. Her mom brought her and her sisters here after his death. Her maiden name was a popular old time preacher's name. I do remember hearing that she started many things, clubs, groups, volunteering, donated money, etc. She was #1 in real estate in the town and there will he a big "celebration of life" downtown next month. Everyone is welcome. I remember her being patient with me and try...

Book Study and Positive Thinking

A few years ago, I was in a weekly book study. I loved it! Sometimes I would substitute for the leader. I have always loved 'teaching' in a round table setting, books in front of us, on the table. I do miss those times, but I am just trying to survive the weeks nowadays. I am literally taking mom to one or two doctor visits, and/or tests every week. I am so tired of it.  She is finally saying that she is tired of it as well, but what do we cancel? A skin graft? Can't do that. It may be the only thing that works! Three rounds of antibiotics and special creams have not. She hasn't had a yearly mammogram in a bit, so I shouldn't cancel that either. She starts PT again and I have been asking for that order to be filled for awhile, so no way am I going to cancel that.  So, I trudge through. I don't like "sickies" I joke around, and that includes me when I am ill ! I worked in the medical field a few years and I hated it 80% of the time. I was in 'Resear...

talking about covid again

I believe, in general, we don't talk about Covid and our losses from 2020-2022 enough.  I had seven friends die during that period. Two of them were close and it was a huge loss. They both left their mothers and young children at home alone.  Maybe more than seven died from Covid because a lot more people died, but if their family were in denial, they would often list their death as something else. I figured others were Covid, though. I quit church altogether, but still knew the 'goings on' of three of my previous churches. One congregation lost 50 or 60 of their parishioners and that was hard. Especially when that specific church didn't really 'believe' in Covid. They still had meetings even when they were told not to. I wrote anonymously to the Pastor, when 800 a day were dying in other countries, about being a "good shepherd" to his "flock" He replied they had it "handled."  After that, Covid rushed through that church like a wil...

my muse blocked me on Twitter

my muse blocked me on Twitter. Just as well ... it was right before I fully fell in lust and lurve with my muse. it was right before my assignment to tell the story of my first love,  James. love at first sight, all the girls wanted him, but he only had eyes for me. we became inseparable, learned everything about each other  he wrote me poems,  where love rhymed with dove, small with all, hand with sand, he once hit himself at a bbq with a hammer, to try & stop my mother and I from fighting. We did  stop fighting to see Why he was so crazy And to check if he had Broken Anything when months later, he was forced to return to Santa Cruz ... (our families were tearing us apart,)  he wrote daily And when he decided to come Get me  on my Sweet 16, He stole a red hot Mustang to get here. It was his 19th b-day. We took it for a joy ride in the  desert, we watched the stars light up, wave to insignificant us, I did not go with him because I had started a ne...

I Blame Elon for Everything 😉

When I first got on the internet in the 90s, I had a notebook I wrote people's email addresses and their chat names with tidbits of information on them. It helped me keep track.  Nowadays, I will use the Twitter search with the first letter or two of an individual's user name and they will pop right up. That is, until Elon took over.  Now it doesn't work.  First thing I noticed was the "translate tweet" link was gone. That really bothered me in numerous ways. It made me feel out of the global "loop" and that it was taken away on purpose. It was, thankfully fixed after a week or so.  I noticed Elon replying to tweets that were very divisive. They were nasty bad and he was encouraging them. Praising them almost. This, of course, is my opinion. Good or bad is relative on any given day. Then, I noticed there were discussions being had about rating your presence in the Twitterverse based on blocks. Not sure people have experienced any of these things on Twitt...

say goodbye to 70 pounds, thx philosophy 😊😋😉

Nothing better than spaghetti for brekkie, yum 😋 and I am still down over 70 pounds. ((As a sidenote::: I notice my blog pushed up a December entry to the day before yesterday because I corrected a spelling. Should have just left it alone. It was a cute mistake anyway 😉)) I wasn't going to write about my weight loss until I reached goal weight. I have been called a cheerleader in different weight loss groups in the past. Then I always gain it back so, "What's the use of talking it about it?" Or, "Don't jinx it now!" I feel pretty safe with myself talking about it now, as I am very different person than the past and I won't go back.  I want to write about three reasons I lost weight and kept it off and still losing to get back to high school weight. These reasons may not be the same for everyone.  This is not medical advice, it's just me talking. The first reason is the pandemic. A lot of people have gained weight during lockdowns, even talking ...

myob or not

I have been awake a lot the last two nights worrying over my friend. She's being scammed for the last three months.  She has to know down deep it's not real as she's not a stupid person. She owns a business, still at age 77. Looks like she's in her 50s, very active and healthy. In her past career worked in an attorney's office.  People can say, "I would never fall for it" but scammers are extremely good at what they do and they groom and brainwash you. They are isolating her now. I am the only one who knows and they have had her delete all social media except the one they contact her on.  When we met for lunch on Tuesday, she had been texting with him. So much she was late. This is a woman who is 30 minutes early for everything.  She came in to the diner talking about how she had been sitting on her couch crying. I thought she was going to say she had finally accepted she was being scammed again, but, no, it was because he was getting her a new car and vil...

Gloria, Gloria

It's suppose to rain today. The wind is up today, gusts 40 mph. I don't mind any storm, as we need the rain. They keep finding bodies in barrels at Lake Mead because the water levels around here are so low. I used to give tours of historic homes around here and one belonged to a family that once lived in a spot they flooded at Lake Mead. It was a little town and the story is told that one gentleman decided to stay and would not leave his home. He, of course, died in the flood and his home and body are still under the water there. For how much longer, though?  I remember a dam not too far from here. When I was around 18, we would try to get as close as we could to the Colorado River and watch the water flow over the spillway at that dam. It was loud, massive, powerful.  Water stopped flowing over that spillway ages ago.  It's sad on many levels. One, is the obvious, we aren't getting enough snow and rain.  Many lakes I frequently visit are no longer there. One of the ...

listen

In the big comfy bed, In the morning before you Rise, start the day,  take to Listening To the words in your head These words are intuition, God's voice in your ear, Maybe, "spirit" angels, Or the advice a loved one  from the other side Whispers Ask questions  before you sleep,  All the answers will come During the night So, listen  before they fly away, your brain rewrites itself  I wanted to know why the birds Are not eating  from the bird feeder The answer came From God or  sarcastic-ass Jake,  Neither who will answer  My big-life existential  Inquiries  Jake hates his assignment (me)  (Jake, my guardian angel, with his worn leather jacket, Smokes 2 Marlboro packs a day) "You are such an idiot, you have what the birds think is a snake hanging next to the feeder, you made this big beaded yellow and black thing and hung it like a necklace on the mulberry tree. The birds think it is a predator." I listened,  moved the...

complaining

One of my new year's resolutions is to, "Stop complaining." In 2022, I've taken up study of philosophy. Not that philosophy is a religion, but some of it has turned a bit religious for me, as I spend a pretty good amount of time regularly devoted to it.  I quit church a few years ago.  I admittedly spent too many hours a week in studies, music practice, board meetings, teaching kids, teaching adults, preparing for speeches, services, potlucks, buying and cooking, handing out items, working bazaars, crafting, etc etc. Even time in the church coffee shoppe and gift store. Too much money spent!  Time and money gone and not much to show for it.  I have to clarify that I am NOT complaining, as I really loved some of those things. I did NOT waste all my time and feel I really did adore some of the positions! But, I also have to be honest, I miss complaining about church and the people who went to the church, and some time and money that went bye-bye.  Much had become ...

new year's resolution

I know there's a school of thought to not make new year's resolutions, because no one ever keeps them anyway, so why waste your time? I also know a fun fact, that this day isn't really anything special, maybe it's not even the true first day of the year.   Today is nothing except a Sunday, but, I always make new year's resolutions. Do I keep them? Maybe 20% of the time 😉😋 but I'm even proud of those times! 😊 This year, I am really just grateful I am able to make a new year's resolution. I am so grateful to have made it through the last three years and to be able to make any commitment to anything at all, to be in the presence of mind to think of it, the body is still here to even attempt to do something.  The mind is still intact. Debatable at times, but thank goodness to still be able to think, read, study, process and type this lil thang out. So, go on, make that resolution, go for it, so what if you don't keep it, you have the **ability** to do it ...

last day of the year

the thread with which she sewed her tapestry has run out, all four needles have been lost somewhere in the bed where she propped up to sew, to write against the cold, it is an ugly work, let us be honest, the tapestry from this year was  pure sick and dark, ugly there is an old saying to never say, "things can't get worse," they can get worse and often do those could be your last words they were mine, maybe they felt I didn't care, and maybe I did not now even the gold thread weaved in the tapestry has made it gaudy, bawdy  no royal look to the piece  we won't even call it art and she, the other she  in this year's story  has turned to talking of debbie having sex with a ghost (and quite enjoying it) and chakras and soul mate love (yet, her love interest is scamming her, catfish some might say) the only thing that made sense (or we wish/hope is true) was her reading, it said there would be karma, a good karma this coming year to repay the sick and ugly  wha...

BEAUTIFUL DORIAN

She was my high school creative writing teacher.  I'm not sure she is even around anymore, so I'm using her real name. It's a beautiful name anyway.  I've wrote about her before. I had many teachers who were my "favorite" and did things for me that changed my life, but I've been thinking of Dorian lately. Anytime I turned in a late paper, she docked me points, as she had the right to do, however, then found something in my paper that would give me extra credit and bring my points back up, so it was like my paper would never be docked for being late.  I'd see her red marks in the story, +15 EC by the paragraph, and then on the front, it would show subtraction for LATE, then all the additions here and there. Back then I didn't understand.  Now, I fully understand it and why she did it for me. She knew why they were late and knew they were done on time, but that I couldn't get to school that day to turn the paper in. She probably was one teacher w...

Who are you? Thanks for saving my life.

Who are you? Thanks for saving my life.  I happen to be a paper hoarder, sometimes I weed through cards, letters, scrapbooking supplies and last night was one of those times.  I can't even throw away old cards, stickers and so on, so I box them up and mail them for my cousin's grandson to play with or for her to do scrapbooking herself.  I found a card. I didn't recognize the signature but it was located in office Christmas parties pictures from 10 years ago, so figured it had to be a previous coworker. She had written her entire name and it was an uncommon Latino name.  I couldn't place her. I sat and thought of every Latino woman I had ever worked with!  It took me over an hour to remember who it was who wrote such precious words!  "You are lovely and wonderful and I love you a lot. I will miss you and I will visit you and will never forget you for you have imprinted in my mind and heart. I wish you nothing but the best. Take care." The first thing I thou...

After 12 years, I found out her name is really, Gwendolyn

It's been a dozen years we've been friends.  This afternoon, we met at a local restaurant for an early dinner to avoid the crowds. We talk about anything and everything.  Sometimes we tell the same stories, but they are good stories, so it's okay.  I've heard the one about her mom sneaking an enema and ruining her brother's white carpets a few times.  The most ironic part of that story was when the mom said it was by my friend's permission that she used enemas. So, the brother blamed her. Today that particular story led into that her brother would never speak to her again, even disown her if he knew they had different fathers. He was a deacon in his church and didn't believe in adultery is what my friend said. She did not find out they had different dads from her mother, but the FBI. Back in college, she was trying to start a career with them and it was a lengthy process of classes, tests and interviews she kept passing over and over again. Maybe it was a ye...

it's okay to snoop

It is okay to snoop and ask questions. From experience, when you are first dating is the best time to snoop and ask questions.  You can't just snoop without the questions, though, because you may easily mistake what you find. A lot of people who date don't want to hear about the previous lover(s) but it is important to hear it. If the talk is all negative and they never take any responsibility for the relationship ending, then you can see the entire picture. Granted, it's not what you want to hear the first day, but you should have a good 21 questions session. Snooping and asking questions have always helped me.  One time I was dating a fellow who was of the Islamic faith and I started to realize he was telling his friends from the Temple Mosque one thing and doing another. This wasn't a big deal to me, however, I figured he might have other secrets. One day, while he was at work, he asked me to go get him a different pair of dress shoes out of his closet. I had a...

december 10th dog treats for the world

At store now, feeling better than yesterday, thank god. I was pretty sick yesterday.  One thing I miss is the comfort of a mom when you're sick. My mother is not capable of empathy any longer, so it is like grieving the death of someone when they are still alive.  As her only child, I really miss it, and just a "mom" in general. Those TV commercials with a mom and adult daughter acting normal, sweet and nice get to me ! Yesterday,  the first time I was sick, was actually at her house and she still never asked how I was. She thought I was faking it so her dog wouldn't get a walk.   Later,  I was sick twice at my house. She called about $5 specials at Safeway and when I reminded her I was ill, she talked about her own ailments and the last time she threw up, which she blamed me and another lady for it, because we were there. She said that if we hadn't been in the hospital room at the time, she would not have been forced to have a pacemaker put in.  None of th...

sickies today

Just checking in, am sick, so it's only going to be a few lines to make a post... Today... I gave a box for Christmas with card to this girl at a fast food joint today. Was hoping I caught her there. Just ordered a coffee. It was just a couple candles and holders/rings, and a couple bracelets. Not a great deal, but it was the card I hoped in some way or another would encourage. I basically told her she was one of the sweetest girls working in this town and to let no one steal her positivity or joy! The dogs didn't get a proper walk today. I had to rush home ! I feel bad, they are the sweetest babies with fur and both took turns cuddling when I had to lay down. Picked up mom for lunch. She bought brekkie. We ate in car. The day was 60° !!! I wish I could have enjoyed it more! The nights are in 20°s (sucks!) It's suppose to rain in a couple days from now, but I think it will snow, as it will drop to 40°s during the day!  Well, to end this with 5 daily grats just to remind me!...
