say goodbye to 70 pounds, thx philosophy 😊😋😉

Nothing better than spaghetti for brekkie, yum 😋 and I am still down over 70 pounds.

((As a sidenote::: I notice my blog pushed up a December entry to the day before yesterday because I corrected a spelling. Should have just left it alone. It was a cute mistake anyway 😉))

I wasn't going to write about my weight loss until I reached goal weight. I have been called a cheerleader in different weight loss groups in the past. Then I always gain it back so, "What's the use of talking it about it?" Or, "Don't jinx it now!"

I feel pretty safe with myself talking about it now, as I am very different person than the past and I won't go back.

I want to write about three reasons I lost weight and kept it off and still losing to get back to high school weight. These reasons may not be the same for everyone.  This is not medical advice, it's just me talking.

The first reason is the pandemic.

A lot of people have gained weight during lockdowns, even talking about "THE 19," meaning the 19 pounds you gained at home overeating for months.

I was the opposite. No grandiose, "Get healthier," but really, truthfully all the food from take-outs and drive-thrus started (and has continued) to taste gross to me.

Some of the grossness had to do with places having to change  ingredients or leave out ingredients due to supply problems.

Some places couldn't sell out foods and they became old and less tasty. Some places started using old, freezer burnt foods.

Maybe, because of different weird illnesses, I have had last 3 years, my taste buds have changed???

Secondly, I never eat anything past 6pm.

I wasn't like this, always ate "seconds," midnight snacks, popcorn and goodies during TV and movies late at night.

It would be a lie to say it is easy because you know all the best commercials AND shows are FOOD related. For some reason a yumzie food commercial comes on at 10pm when the place they  advertise closed at 7pm.

I just don't do it now, there are no tricks, no advice I can give except you just tell yourself NO and don't eat after 6pm.

Intermittent Fasting.  It's slow going, ie; you're not going to lose 20 pounds a week, but being down 70 pounds is great, no matter how effin long it takes you!

Last, but not least, I study philosophy more now than I have since high school and the courses I took back then!

It's a daily practice to me and a lot of stoic philosophy talks about temperance and training yourself to do without.

It has also made me very humble. One time in the past, when I lost this amount of weight, I charged up so many new clothes to show off, get compliments, look better, etc.

Some of those clothes I have never wore, as they were already too tight on me by the time they arrived! I was already gaining back the weight I had lost.

It's not happening this time ... not trading one addiction (food) for another (shopping) because of the philosophies I study now. I don't care about wearing new, tight fitting, showy clothes now. I don't care if anyone can tell my weight loss.

So, here I am telling you, 😍 but not to brag or cheer you on, even. Just to say it.

And, you CAN do it as well, when you really don't make it such a "big deal."

People who want to show their before and after pics, people who want to go to the gym on video and post it on social media, or who want to motivate others as a life coach, have their place, but I have accepted that is not me through philosophical studies. I think that has been a big key, because I don't want to do any of those things.

So...it may be totally silly to people, but philosophy has helped me lose weight and for that, I am grateful 😊
