I Blame Elon for Everything 😉

When I first got on the internet in the 90s, I had a notebook I wrote people's email addresses and their chat names with tidbits of information on them. It helped me keep track.

Nowadays, I will use the Twitter search with the first letter or two of an individual's user name and they will pop right up.

That is, until Elon took over.

Now it doesn't work.

First thing I noticed was the "translate tweet" link was gone. That really bothered me in numerous ways. It made me feel out of the global "loop" and that it was taken away on purpose. It was, thankfully fixed after a week or so.

I noticed Elon replying to tweets that were very divisive. They were nasty bad and he was encouraging them. Praising them almost. This, of course, is my opinion. Good or bad is relative on any given day.

Then, I noticed there were discussions being had about rating your presence in the Twitterverse based on blocks.

Not sure people have experienced any of these things on Twitter, but in 12 years on Twitter, I have experienced the weirdest things. Being blocked by someone you have never had one interaction with has got to be the strangest.

It's super easy to block. I have never blocked anyone as I believe in giving people the opportunity to converse, reach out, and "free speech" (the term these days everyone throws around without even understanding) You may not agree with me and you can tell me that.

Years ago I had a group/website/message style board that had around 4000 members. I had to have moderators cos of spammers, but they were all instructed, "Put through the posts, even if we disagree."

The weirdest blocks I receive on Twitter are when someone specifically messages me to tell me something or call me a name. When I go to reply, they have already blocked me. The last was someone telling me about "Poor Jo." I presume they felt I had hurt her, somehow.

If Elon were to rate people's tweets and visibility based on how many blocks they've had, I don't agree with that either because you can be blocked by someone for sitting there on your hands doing absolutely nothing.

The most difficult part of Twitter now, though, is that search thing not working. You miss someone in your timeline and then try to find them and they just can't be found. At least this is happening to me.

I still can't find a girl I want to find because I can't remember her exact user name.

Years ago, she sent me a box of handmade truffles from a San Francisco shop. They were all in the shapes of santas and snowmen and were so delish!

She had a beloved dog who passed away and she buried him under a peach tree in the fall. When the peaches were ripe the following summer, she wrote about her dog and how it was like he returned to the earth to nourish it and she was feeling as if she was partaking of his love in the fresh peach she was eating.

She was very close to her father and in all the pictures of gatherings with friends that she posted there were bottles and bottles of Perrier water on the tables.

Everyone there was as pretty as she was, but she was a striking red head girl, long hair, and sexy even in a turtleneck and jeans.

I wish I could find her again. I curse Elon for separating us, for destroying everything.
